I've actually spent quit a bit of time looking through the code of this game since i'm a avid fan of the series.
No crack released and a high chance there never will be due to low demand it has.
When AC B hits the scene there might be a revision by other crackers.
When either the emulator or the workaround is handled within that crack.
But what or when that will be is anybody's geuss.
The way the DRM works is to put it down as lame men"s terms that the game requests a connection to one of the gaming servers of Ubisoft.
Within the server there is a program wich you could call the authenticator.
The game sends a unique hash code requesting a proper responce [if the unique serial key is valid] from the server.
When the server has checked the game key it will send back a unique hash or command back to the game client giving it the clearance it requires to enable functions such as launching campaign mode.
For crackers to crack this would mean they would have to know each bit of information written inside the authenticator wich nobody has acces to.
And to develop a emulator wich does the same thing as the authenticator could take upwards of a year of work.
Because your sniffing data packets out and compiling the data this way.
Eventually you will see a pattern in the hand shake state of the authenticator and may be able to reverse code a emulator.
But you will never be able to see the full code of the program itself.
If i had the "authenticator" source code i personally could write a way to circumvent it within 2 weeks.
To put it really bluntly crackers work method:
- decompile the software
- look for authentication methods
- Rewrite code to circumvent security
- Recompile
Therefor the only approach is to not crack it at all as a group and look for better options.
Because beeing FIRST in this scene matters more sadly.
Speculations about AC Brotherhood are just that, speculations.
There is no way to tell if they will use the same DRM method used here.
Ubisoft knows that they failed with launching the game properly.
Very bad servers that failed and dropped connections constantly.
But they have also won till this day since nobody has been able to play it illigaly on the PC.
(other then the goodperson crack wich worked for about a week)
Even though they have stated online connections will no longer be required continually.
The method of authentication through a third party program on their end is still viable and probably the best solution anti piracy wise.
