There he worked hand in hand with other German prisoners and thought about escaping. One day he tried to make it ,but he was found fast and as a punishment he had to sit alone in the hole in ground for a week. While he was there, another prisoners didn’t get any food,so when he came back in prisoners barracks soldiers hit him with stones. He arrived with wounds to the camps hospital, where Clemens met a camp-doctor,who was also a soldier of the Third Reich . This doctor created an escape-plan himself, and collected many information for it. But he was sick with cancer, so he gave all of the needed items to Clemens and killed himself. That was a beginning of hard, long road from Siberia to Soviet-Iranian border, through forests, rivers and fields. After few months of this journey he met two Russian gold prospectors and they went together. But because of gold and greed, one prospector killed other prospector and tried to kill Clemens.Deafened soldier was rescued by native people of Siberia. They gave supplies and a dog for him.He found a railway and started to travel in product-carriages.On one of railway stations he met a chief of labor camp-Kamenev,who still sought for fugitive. But Claments dog jumped on Lieutenant and bit him. While he was trying to kill a dog,Forel had time to runaway. The last movie I'v seen was “As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me”. It was filmed in 2001 by Hardy Martins, and based on a story written by Josef Martin Bauer.
It's a story about Clemens Forel-a soldier of Wermacht, who was captured by Red Army, and was send to a labor in Siberia. There he worked hand in hand with other German prisoners, and worked on the escape-plan. One day he tried to flee, but soon was caught, and was punished to one week of underground solitary. While he was there, another prisoners didn’t get any food, so when he came back in prisoners barracks - prisoners wore throwing stones at him. Wounded he got in to the camps hospital, where met a camp-doctor, who also was a soldier of the Third Reich . This doctor created an escape-plan himself, and collected allot of information on it. But he had a cancer, so he gave all the needed items to Clemens and committed suicide. That was a beginning of hard-long road from Siberia to Iranian border, through forests, rivers, and fields. After few months of this journey he met two Russian gold prospectors, and they traveled together, but because of greed, one prospector killed another, and tried to kill Clemens. Deafened, soldier was rescued by Siberian natives, they gave him supplies and a dog. Later he found a railway, and traveled in product-carriages. On one of the stations he met a chief of labor camp Kamenev, who still sought for a fugitive, but Claments dog jumped on Lieutenant, and bit him. While he was trying to kill a dog, Forel had time to runaway. Near the border with Iran he was noticed by Jewish man, who decided to help German soldier with supplie and documents for crossing the border. On the bridge that connect Iran and USSR our hero saw Kamenev again. But he stepped aside, said ”This is my victory”, and let Clemens pass. Iranian soldiers decided that Forel is a soviet spy, and made him a prisoner. However, in few months he was recognized by his uncle, and finally got back to Germany, to his family.
